TEXT ISSUED BY THE COALITION OF PDP YOUTH GROUPS AT BALI, HEADQUARTERS OF CENTRAL ZONE TARABA STATE AT A PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE 10TH OF FEBRUARY, 2022.
Gentlemen of the press.
I wish to welcome all of you to this auspicious press conference which is necessitated by the incessant desire bye some politicians who are agitating to puncture the well-articulated arrangement in our political space which is tailored towards giving every section of our dear State a sense of belonging.
In view of the foregoing,we the PDP Youth groups of Central zone in Taraba State wish to draw the attention of our political aspirants wishing to tamper with the divine arrangement laid by the founding fathers of the State on power rotation to retrace their footsteps by succumbing to this order which we consider sacrosanct.
It is expedient to note that power rotation has mitigated the question of marginalization, underdevelopment and indeed increased self-esteem among the diverse ethnic nationalities coexisting peacefully in the State. Permit me to make bold the position of this coalition of youth groups, that any attempt to derail this noble arrangement will be resisted with vehemence.
The purported incursion of any interest group seeking to upturn this arrangement by calling on some self-seeking politicians from zones other than that as enshrined in that arrangement is not a reflection of the position of the people of Taraba Central zone. The zone shall remain resolute and will abide by the spirit of letter of the earlier arrangement that produced His Excellency Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku from the Southern zone in 2015. Hopeful as we are that the governorship shall return to Taraba Central zone after running it's course through Taraba Nothern Zone.
At this juncture,we wish to draw the attention of the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) particularly the Taraba State Chapter to this ingenious power rotation model reached by the party in 2011, and to caution against jettisoning same which may attract negative consequences on the fortune of the party. We call on the leader of this Party in the State His Excellency Arc Darius Dickson Ishaku, the State PDP Chairman Lt. Col Agbu Kefas (Rtd) and all PDP critical stakeholders to rally support for power shift to the northern zone as the 2023 elections approaches.
Let me use this opportunity to commend the State governor for the developmental strides he has laid in Taraba State. We acknowledge the fact that posterity will appropriately define his place in the history of Taraba State as a beacon of peace,unity and development. We employ His Excellency to superintends in good conscience the process of transition of power that will ensure that the principle of rotation is respected by the party.
We believe that this arrangement is responsible for the massive turnout of votes for the party over the years and consequently made PDP a dominant party in the State.
In this respect the theory of justice, fairness and equity should be religiously embraced in our collective quest to entrench power rotation in our march towards 2023 general elections.
We are aware that any moment from now political activities will commence,we want to therefore appeal to the youths in Taraba State to ensure decorum in their operations. Negative acts such as breaking of billboards, clashing with opposition groups, carrying of arms should be avoided. We must understand that Taraba State belongs to all of us,we must be seen as veritable tools in Her developmental process and not a group of youngsters striving to undeveloped Her.
More so, security agencies must be dutiful, they should not be seen to belong to a group, they should be fair to all, while parents should caution their children against indulging in all manners of political rascality. To this end we believe in the Peoples Democratic Party and all it teaches and provides for the people of the State noting that our clarion call for the power rotation will be acceptable to the critical stakeholders of the party.
Once again we are aware of the existence of some desperate politicians. PDP supporters must be wary of them because they have nothing to offer. What they are doing is nothing but what we call "Political Commercialization" the only declare their interest to make serious aspirants think they are a threat and such pay them off. Therefore, such people should be identified and made to face the wrath of the party.
Finally,we wish to thank the founding fathers of the PDP in the State the critical stakeholders, our esteemed value supporters and most significantly the Executive Governor of Taraba State Architect Darius Dickson Ishaku for the engendering a tranquil and robust political platforms in the State.
